It’s proven to be a busy start to the year for Healthy Workstations, supporting several events and local groups and associations. While many organisations seem to take advice from the media regarding sitting/standing desks, sit-stand has become the ‘in’ conversation at the moment.

Stall at H&S Conference

We recently presented at Cardiff & South East Wales Occupational Health & Safety Group, where we covered the “revolutionary” – illusion that standing all day – or for long periods – is the ultimate solution. Instead, we discussed the benefits for office workers of alternating their posture regularly throughout the day to prevent the negative effects of any static posture.

Orchid the OwlWe took this hot topic to a well-represented inaugural conference at Cardiff’s City Stadium, organised by an Alliance of the South Wales Safety Groups, where we demonstrated a new product. This offers organisations the opportunity to convert existing workspaces into sit-stand workstations, quickly and easily without the need for additional power terminals and usually costlier electric desks, where budgets can’t stretch.

Ergotron’s WorkFit T, is the newest addition to our catalogue with a range of benefits which challenge any rivals. This affordable sit-stand platform certainly gained a lot of attention, especially since we were giving one away in a prize draw!

It didn’t, however, prove quite as popular at the ION leadership in Swansea’s Liberty Stadium, where Orchid the Barn Owl stole the show! (See #IONleadershipTS on twitter)
